At the Golden Gate, put on your Meta Quest 3 headset and see the original ceremonial entrance to Diocletian's Palace as it stood in 305 AD, with Roman statues, painted walls and gilded archway.
Your licensed guide leads you through the palace and Split's Old Town, past the Cathedral, Cellars and medieval streets, with continuous historical narrative.
At the ceremonial central courtyard, the headset goes on again and the Peristyle fills with the imperial mausoleum, colonnade and Emperor Diocletian himself addressing the crowd.
The tour ends on the Riva, Split's palm-lined seafront promenade along the southern palace wall. You'll leave understanding Diocletian's Palace the way most visitors never do.

On a standard palace tour the guide describes what once stood here and you picture it yourself. On Time Walk, at the Golden Gate and the Peristyle the reconstructed Roman palace appears around you through the headset, with Diocletian, soldiers and crowds brought to life.
At two points on the tour the headset goes on and the ruins fill back in. You keep standing in the real palace while, through the lens, the Roman one rebuilds itself around you.

The Time Walk Diocletian's Palace tour includes an 80-minute guided walking tour of the palace and Old Town with a licensed Croatian tourist guide, two VR reconstructions of the palace as it stood in 305 AD using Meta Quest 3 headsets, and all VR equipment. The route covers the Golden Gate, Peristyle, Vestibule, Cathedral exterior, and the underground Cellars corridor.
The Time Walk Diocletian's Palace tour costs €25 per person for group tours. Private tours are available for groups wanting a personalised experience with flexible start times.
The tour starts at the statue of Gregory of Nin, just outside the Golden Gate (northern entrance) of Diocletian's Palace in Split. Look for our red cart with the VR headsets. Arrive 5–10 minutes early.
The tour runs approximately 80 minutes, including the guided walk through the palace and two VR reconstruction stops at the Golden Gate and Peristyle.
The tour includes access to the free areas of the palace and the cellar corridor. Entrance tickets to the Cathedral of Saint Domnius interior, the bell tower, or the paid cellar exhibitions are not included and can be purchased separately at the attractions if desired.
Yes. Children 13 and older can wear the Meta Quest 3 headsets comfortably. Younger children are welcome to accompany the tour without VR. The walking pace and content suit families with older kids and teens well.
No experience required. Your guide handles all headset setup, calibration and adjustment. You just wear the headset and look around. Everything else is done for you.
Tours run daily throughout the season (March to November) with multiple daily departure times. Availability is subject to bookings and headset capacity, so reserve early in peak season.
The VR headsets can't be used in the rain, so if the weather doesn't hold we'll move your tour to another time or day that works for you, run it as a regular guided walk without the VR, or give you a full refund. Whatever you prefer.
Group tours run in English. Private tours are available in English, Italian, Spanish and French.
Diocletian's Palace forms the historic core of Split's Old Town, and most of the complex is free to explore through its open streets, squares and gates. Certain interior attractions (the Cathedral interior, the bell tower and the deeper cellar exhibitions) have separate entry tickets.
