PRIVATE · FILMING LOCATIONS · CELLARS INCLUDED · ENGLISH
When Game of Thrones needed the slave city of Meereen, it came to Split. Across Seasons 4, 5 and 6, Diocletian's Palace became the streets, the plaza and the dragon dungeons of Daenerys's city. Your guide, a real fan who knows the show scene by scene, walks you through every spot, tells you exactly what was filmed where, and brings the real 1,700-year-old palace to life underneath it all.
MEEREEN · SEASONS 4–6
The vast underground halls beneath the palace are the most famous Game of Thrones location in Split. This is where Daenerys chained Rhaegal and Viserion after they grew too dangerous to roam free (S4E10, S5E1), and where she confronted the masters in the dragon catacombs (S5E5). Parts of her Meereen throne room were shot down here too. The scale and torch-lit atmosphere are exactly as they appear on screen. Your cellar entrance ticket is included.

MEEREEN MARKET & LIBERATION · SEASON 4
The grand central courtyard, with the cathedral bell tower on one side, became the plaza of Meereen. This is where Daenerys took the city and addressed the freed slaves (S4E4, "Oathkeeper"), with the surrounding streets dressed as the Meereenese market. Today it's an open public square at the heart of the palace, and one of the most striking spots on the walk.
MEEREEN GATES & STREETS · SEASONS 4–6
The palace's grand northern gate and the passages around it appear throughout the Meereen storyline, from the streets the Unsullied patrolled to the approaches to the city. It's also one of the best-preserved Roman gates in the world, and your guide fills in both sides of the story: the show and the emperor who built it.
MEEREEN · SEASON 5
The great domed hall, open to the sky, is where the Sons of the Harpy laid their ambush on the Unsullied. Stand inside it and look up through the oculus, exactly the angle the show used. It's one of the most atmospheric spaces in the whole palace, and a favourite photo spot on the tour.

MEEREEN · SEASON 4
The narrow stone lanes of the palace, Papalićeva Street among them, became the streets of Meereen where the slave revolt sequence was shot. Walking them today, with your guide pointing out exactly where the cameras stood, is the closest you'll get to stepping into the city itself.

The Peristyle
On the VR version, at the Golden Gate and the Peristyle you put on a Meta Quest 3 headset and see the palace as it really stood in 305 AD, when Diocletian built it. It has nothing to do with Game of Thrones. It's there for guests who, alongside the filming locations, also want to learn the real history of Split. If you're only here for the show, the classic version skips it.
Both are the same private Game of Thrones walk through the filming locations, with the same specialist guide and the cellar tickets included. The VR version (2 hours) adds two Meta Quest 3 scenes showing the palace as it really looked in Roman times. The classic version (1h 45min) is the show walk on its own, without headsets.
Yes. We cover the entrance into the paid section of Diocletian's Cellars, the dragon dungeons, so there's nothing for you to buy or queue for on the day. It's all handled.
Yes. This tour is led by a specialist guide who knows the show scene by scene, not just a general city guide. You'll get the filming stories, the character details and the season-by-season context, alongside the real history of Split.
This tour stays in Split's Old Town and the palace, where all the Meereen interior scenes were filmed, so no transport is needed. Klis Fortress (the Meereen exterior) is a separate location outside the city; if you'd like it added, message us and we'll see what we can arrange.
Message us on WhatsApp or send an email with your date, group size, and whether you'd like the VR or classic version. We usually reply as soon as possible with the exact price and a meeting time.
